What is TB?
What is Tuberculosis (TB)?
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection spread through the air. TB is fully curable with free, regular course treatment provided by Government Health Centres under the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP).
Common Symptoms
- Cough lasting more than 2 weeks
- Fever, especially in the evening
- Weight loss & loss of appetite
- Night sweats & chest pain

Free diagnostic tests (Sputum Test / CBNAAT) and DOTS medications are available at all Sadar Hospitals, CHCs, and PHCs across Khagaria district.

What to Do (Dos)
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or clean cloth when coughing or sneezing.
- Complete the full, uninterrupted course of TB medications as prescribed by your doctor.
- Eat a protein-rich, balanced and nutritious diet to support your body's immune system.
- Keep your living and sleeping areas well-ventilated to allow fresh air and sunlight.
What Not to Do (Don'ts)
- Never stop or skip your TB medications midway, even if symptoms temporarily subside.
- Do not spit in open public areas to protect others from potential airborne transmission.
- Avoid tobacco, smoking, and alcohol during the entire duration of your TB treatment.
- Do not ignore persistent symptoms or self-medicate without a doctor's consultation.
